Awards / Notes: Flutie was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 1998. In his professional career, he played for the Chicago Bears (1986-1987), New England Patriots (1987-1989, 2005), Buffalo Bills (1998-2000) and the San Diego Chargers (2001-2004). He also played for the New Jersey Generals of the USFL (1985) and the B.C. Lions (1990-1991), Calgary Stampeders (1992-1995 and the Toronto Argonauts (1996-1997) of the CFL. While playing for BC, Flutie won the 1984 Heisman Trophy, becoming the first quarterback to win since 1971. He was a consensus All-American selection his senior year and he was named Player of the Year by UPI, Kodak, The Sporting News and the Maxwell Football Club.
