Stadium:
Fenway Park
First Opened:
April 20, 1912
Playing Surface:
Natural Grass
Remarks:
Fenway Park is the oldest MLB stadium currently being used and the only one among the original ballparks still in use. In 1934, Fenway had a new look after two fires and a number of renovations. Fenway’s famous feature, known as the Green Monster, was created in 1947 when green paint covered wall advertisements. Fenway was not changed much besides additions such as new seating, lighting and bullpens. In fact, it still uses a manually operated scoreboard. In 2008, the Red Sox sold out their 456th consecutive game, breaking a MLB record.
