For tips on creating a great custom Fathead
Starting with a good image is the key. The larger the print you want, the larger
the image you'll need to use. Most of today's digital cameras and even smart phones
will provide an adequate image.
You'll need to have the right to use the image you upload. If you didn't take the
picture, you may need to get permission. If the person in the picture is a celebrity,
you may need their permission too. See details.
You can pick from various sizes, different media (vinyl or canvas), and in the case
of vinyl whether to have your image cut out from the background or printed as a
mural . Sizes range from 12 in x 16 in canvas to 4 ft x 6½ ft vinyl.
When your Fathead arrives you'll want to put it up right away. With our self-adhesive
vinyl products, be sure to read the instructions; you may need a helping hand with
larger sizes. Our canvas wraps come ready to hang.
Copyrighted images
If you took the photograph that you’re sending us then you own the copyright, which
is cool. If someone else took the photograph, you need permission from that person
to use the photograph for a Fathead Custom Graphic. If you used a professional photographer
he or she should be able to provide you with a release form.
But that may not be all. You need to ask yourself whether or not you have permission
to make a Fathead of the person or artwork in question, even if you took the photo.
If not, the right of publicity prohibits us from creating a Fathead for you. If
the person or artwork you want made into a Fathead is famous and you don't have
that person's permission, chances are good that there's a right of publicity issue.
